Dr Luqman graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2003 and started his career in Hospital Alor Star and Baling before becoming a trainee lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC). There, he completed the Masters in General Surgery in 2010; he then proceeded to sub-specialize in colorectal surgery under the Malaysian Training Board of Colorectal Surgery where he trained in Hospital Kuantan, Hospital Seremban and finally at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
On his return from overseas, he worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre and was made the Head of Colorectal Surgery in 2017. He joined Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur in May 2019.
Dr Luqman is actively involved in many educational workshops, courses and conferences on Colorectal Surgery and Clinical Nutrition in Malaysia and around the Asia-Pacific region and is currently the Treasurer of the Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons and a Council Member of the Parenteral and Enteral Society of Malaysia (PENSMA).
Practice Notes
His area of special interest is in colorectal cancers and he regularly performs complex laparoscopic colorectal surgeries as well as pelvic exenteration surgery for cancers with multi-organ cancer involvement. He also manages other common colorectal and general surgical conditions such as hemorrhoids, perianal abscess, fistula -in-ano, anal fissures, diverticulitis, chronic constipation, fecal incontinence, colonic polyps, hernias, lumps & bumps and general surgical emergencies like acute abdomen, abscesses and abdominal trauma
